Release status & device requirements

Toccobird Scan & Archive is preparing for the App Store. A download link will be available after release. This website describes currently implemented features; it does not indicate that the app has been publicly released.

The app supports iPhone and iPad running iOS / iPadOS 18 or later. The interface is currently in Simplified Chinese, and text recognition supports Chinese and English. Camera scanning requires a device that supports VisionKit document scanning.

Opening your library

The app authenticates with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode and locks when it enters the background. Set up a device passcode in system Settings before use. If device authentication is unavailable, the library remains locked.

Camera access is required for scanning. Manage permissions in system Settings, or import existing documents through the system photo and file pickers.

Scanning & importing

Scan multiple pages, choose images from Photos, or import PDF, JPEG, PNG and HEIC files. Each scan or photo-import session supports up to 20 pages, subject to file-size and available-storage limits.

Automatic filing saves originals first, then recognizes text and tries to assign a category. To organize pages before saving, turn off automatic filing on the home screen or under “我的” (My). You can then preview, rotate, reorder and remove pages.

Use even lighting and keep the page flat where possible. Edge detection, perspective correction and lighting adjustments cannot fix every reflection or overexposed area. Check the preview and capture again from another angle when needed.

Filing, search & text review

Automatic filing tries to recognize IDs, contracts, receipts, medical records and study materials. Documents with insufficient or mixed clues stay unfiled for review. Existing manually assigned titles and categories are preserved.

Search recognized text, titles, tags, notes and document fields. A document whose OCR has not completed cannot yet be found by recognized text. Find it by title or category first, then check its recognition status.

Recognition may contain errors. Review important names, dates and amounts page by page. Corrected text can be copied and searched within the app without changing the original scan. Wide iPad windows can show the original and text side by side; narrower layouts use a single column.

PDF exports, backups & moving devices

Export a document as a PDF and share it through the system share menu. Exported scan PDFs do not contain a searchable OCR text layer. Full-text search inside the app is separate from PDF export.

Use “备份与恢复” (Backup & restore) to back up selected documents or the entire library. Backups include original files and document details; a complete library backup includes Trash by default. Inspect a backup before restoring it as new copies, leaving existing documents in place.

There is no automatic cloud sync. To move devices, save a backup to a trusted location and import it on the other device. Backups are currently unencrypted and are not protected by the app lock. A PDF for reading does not replace a complete, restorable backup.

Deleting & recovering documents

Documents moved to Trash remain there until you permanently delete them. Restore them from Trash before permanent deletion, which cannot be undone on the device.

Deleting local documents does not delete exported PDFs, backups, shared copies or system device backups. Manage those copies separately. Support cannot remotely read or recover documents stored only on your device.

Send only what is needed to investigate. Remove identity numbers, medical information, private addresses, passwords and unrelated files from screenshots or samples first. Your email and any attachments you choose to send leave your device and are used to respond to and handle your request.
